Hi,

Thanks for reading and for leaving a comment.

I don't think the situation that I describe are "unlike what happens in therapy." I've spoken to my therapist about this very topic and she said that many people, even strangers on the sidewalk, will want to tell her everything when they learn that she's a therapist. I think it's important to note that your experience might not represent the experiences of everyone in the field of therapy.

As for giving off "vibes of being the sort of person in a caretaker role," I would be careful of making that statement as well. I think the people that I describe would probably talk to anyone unsolicited. To me, your statement is a bit victim blaming. No one gives off vibes of being a caretaker role--their demeanor and actions are interpreted by others so I find it so unhelpful to say that someone is giving off caretaker vibes--it's so dependent on the person making that judgment and not on the actual person themselves. I do agree that it could be a boundary problem--theirs and my own.
